Afghanistan in Peacetime: “Painted Trucks”(1972), presented by the filmmakers, Judith and Stanley Hallet

April 13, 2011

Looking through a collection of 16mm films housed in the Museum Library, our film archivist came across a 1972 film which gives a rare glimpse of peace in a country often torn apart by war. We got in touch with the filmmakers, Judith and Stanley Hallet, who let us know that this film is a sentimental favorite of both the internal and the exile Afghani communities, who (like most of us) since the 1970’s have only seen images of the country in states if war.

The Hallets are honoring us with a visit to the Museum, to answer questions about their short film, and tell some stories about their times in Afghanistan.
