Dating back over 5,000 years, the popular ancient Egyptian game senet is one of the oldest board games in the world. In addition to a fun game, senet also played an important religious role for ancient Egyptians, who viewed the game as a symbol of the journey through the afterlife. Students will learn about its history and significance to ancient Egyptian people. They will then make their own senet boards and learn how to play.
Recommended materials: Blank sheet of paper and a writing utensil. One six- sided die. Ten counters for game pieces.
