Frontal head, eyes with red (carnelian?) inset pupils. Much of the top and back of head carved plain. Luxuriant hair of large locks frames face above and at sides. Hair above forehead is drawn back in a semicircular arrangement. Surface broken at back: posssibly a large bun here. Stone of face is highly polished, that of hair and head left dull. Much discoloration. From the original card: "A sheet of paper found Feb. 1979, has a statement in modern Greek which is translated below as: I found this head in Rhetimos (for Rethymna?) Crete. E. D. Morris."
