Description | Ceremonial huipil of navy blue plain weave cotton. Two breadths joined with red cotton thread. Red and purple stripes down center, front and back. Pink wool binding around neck. Design of variety of stylized animals. Colors are aqua, white, mauve, purple, salmon, yellow and blue silk and cotton thread. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 44 epi, two ply, Z twist, indigo cotton. Weft: 18 ppi, three singles, Z twist, indigo cotton. Warp faced plain weave. Supplementary weft is two faced. Two panels, four selvedges. Woven on a backstrap loom." |
