Seated wooden Buddha with legs crossed, facing forward. The left hand is palm up on his lap while the right hand is raised in a guesture of reassurance. The body is clothed in a robe which is draped over the shoulders and falls in folds around the legs. The face has a serene expression. The entire statue is covered with bright gold leaf and seated on a separate gold stand which consists of a lotus on a hexagonal base. This modern Buddha image was produced by Thai craftsmen in a Japanese style.
