Description:
Hourglass type. The two drumheads are held together by twisted thongs. There is a carrying loop of plaited thongs, and a long tubular cloth string in multiple loops attached to the drum. See fig. 223 in Br. Mus. Hdbk. to Ethnogr. Collections. The leather-covered drumstick is of the type figured by Ankermann, fig. 143a; see also the illustration previously cited. which has no more definite attribution than "British West Africa".
