Description | Tomb 1 = Herscher, Tomb 801. Red polished II smphora. Orange clay with large black inclusions. Crackled dark red lustrous slip, flaking, on interior and exterior. Flat base, ovoid body, conical neck, slightly flaring rim; two opposed vertical handles from mid-neck to upper body. Undecorated. Cf. _SCE_ IV:1A, fig. CX.4, 5. |
