Description | Sommerville: Antique paste intaglio, color pale sard. Apollo. Antique Pastes, Case UUU. Vermeule: Glass paste, imitating pale Sard. Intaglio. (Unmounted) Apollo, nude, standing to right, holding his lyre in his right hand and the plectron in the left. He is the later IVth Heroic-type figure on which the Hellenistic representations of Helios were based. Graeco-Roman. |
