Description

Plaid sarong with figures (tembe paleka-salunka). Predyed synthetic (nggoli). Machine sewn. Made in 1983, Kambentu hamlet. Black, with very large complex motifs in light green, white, golden yellow, hot pink, & orange. Panel defined by red zig-zags nested diamonds in white, hot pink, golden yellow & green with the weaver's Christian and Muslim names: "PAULINA" and "FATIMA". Border stripes hot pink.
