Description:
Graeco-Buddhist stone fragment. Scene is probably that of the hymn of Naga Kalika or the temptation of the Buddha by Mara and his daughters. On the far left is a monk with an alms bowl. The putti decorating the columns continue the Hellenic tradition. Obtained at Rawalpindi, where they were brought down by Afghan traders. Typical of pieces from Gandhara. See also 22081 and 22080.
