Description | Small red jug with face on neck, perforated rattles in place of ears, arms in low relief on body, one vertical loop handle Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jug with a globular body, cylindrical neck, rounded rim, 1 strap handle extending from the neck to the body, and a rounded base. There is a modeled face and arms on the neck and body and the whole vessel is painted red and white. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. There are openwork rattles in place of ears that still work. The catalogue number is written in black ink. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "3297." |
