Description | Globular body, bottle necked, twisted loop handles shoulder to neck, plain red jug Narrow-necked jar/bottle with a globular body, cylindrical neck, rounded rim, 1 twisted handle extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. No molded/modeled additions. The vessel is red slipped and has a twisted handle. There appears to be a smoothed finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in an oxidizing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is orange in color. Fireclouding is present on the body. Evidence of usewear includes staining. There is a red mottled stain on the exterior of the body. The catalogue number is written on the object in black ink on the bottom of the base. Black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2861." |
