Description | Black with crude cat head; slightly broken Narrow-necked jar/bottle (aríbalo, aryballos) with an ovate body, hyperboloid neck, flared rim with lugs, 2 strap handles on the body, and a conical (aribaloid) base. There is a modeled cat head on the body just below the neck. Two small lugs on either side of the rim. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in a reducing atmosphere as the ceramic paste is gray and black in color. The catalogue number is written in black ink. black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2825." |
