Description | Shield. Trabai tasak. Oval shield of rattan peel woven in herringbone pattern, on backing of horizontal wood slats. Vertical reinforcing (?) wood strip, widening at center, lashed to front. Square metal plate attached to one side of the center. In back an arched hardwood handle with a protective covering underneath. Spirals and other doodles scratched here and there. Similar example in British Museum (As1900,-.1061), collected by Hose. |
