Description | Cista foot: hybrid animal. Dark green patina, object is intact. A large modern screw set underneath was removed in 1966. Animal has a lion's head and bird's wings, and ends below in a single lion's paw. At the back is a ledge set at the top of the wings and a smaller one behind the claw, used to support the vessel for which it was a foot. Face is roughly indicated by gashes. Traces of grooves indicating feathers remain on the left wing. |
