Description | Long hollowed reed, slightly bent with a plaited a strainer covering one end. In four areas there is thin twisted string wrapped 3 to 4 times around object. The old label has a olace name which seems to be intended for Ituri. This would probably place the object outside the normal range of such drinking tubes., but within easy reach of Uganda influence. There does not seem to any reason for accepting Torday's description of this object as a "Rattle....in a very primative form; split can, with which the palm of the hand is beaten." This reads like pure conjecture, especially as Torday, rejectin the label, did not assign the object to any locality. See AF5034, AF4601. |
