Description | One of the two folios of a palm leaf manuscript. Numbered 5. Tamil language and script. No date or scribe. Title is Vettiverkai. Moral maxims, chiefly treating world customs. Lacks beginning. Author is Ativir Rama Pantigar. Each frond is doubled over. The manuscript is laid out with three columns on each side of a folio. 3 columns, 4-6 lines per folio side. A lateral hole, worn out so that it cuts into part of the text on f.4 recto and verso, runs between the first and second column. The right side of the folios is chipped off, removing small portions of text on f.4 recto and verso. The doubling over of the fronds, the spelling mistakes, and the contemporary usage of the text combine to indicate that perhaps the manuscript is a child's school exercise. |
