Description | Round short gourd; bulbous sides; blackened geometic carvings two rows, parallel on upper half of box; a bundle of plant fiber found in box; thirteen triangular cut-outs in top center. Stem end cut in form of a thirteen pointed star to make lid; lid is secured container by a piece of leather hide, with hair still present. Box is oiled, reddish brown color. Blackened decoration, made from a type of burning process. |
