Description

Sommerville: White Topaz. Augustus, first Emperor of Rome. A Roman cameo signed in Greek. Gold and Silver Rings - Cameos, Case JJJ.

Vermeule: White topaz. Cameo. (Modern gold ring setting). (rock crystal). Laureate, head of an Emperor facing slightly to right, signed in Greek letters L. GHISSALI. The features seem to be copied from the head of Claudius in the Ara Pietatis Augustac relief walled-up in the garden facade of the Villa Medici
