Penn Museum Scholars Lunch Lecture Series
Excavation and Research at the Sanctuary of Zeus at Mt. Lykaion, 2009
David Gilman Romano, Research Project Manager, Mediterranean Section
Since 2004, the Penn Museum has been working at one of the most famous Zeus sanctuaries in the ancient world at Mt. Lykaion. Situated high in the Arcadian mountains the site is known as the birthplace of Zeus, which became a Pan Arcadian and Pan Hellenic festival site known for athletic games. Recent research has shown that the origins of the cult of Zeus on the site may go back to the Bronze Age - and perhaps earlier.
Guests are welcome to bring their lunch.
The lecture will be held in Classroom 2.
Lecture Admission: Pay-what-you-want.
