Description

"Making Music in Egypt: a Conversation with Fathy Salama"

Al-Bustan Seeds of Culture presents Grammy award-winning composer and pianist Fathy Salama at the Penn Museum's Egypt (Sphinx) Gallery. The artist will speak about his work, illustrating with short musical interludes. Salama's work is truly global in scope. Rooted in Egypt's Golden Age and Egyptian folk music, Salama's music incorporates rhythmic traditions from the Far East, North Africa, and American jazz. The artist has described his work this way; "It is best to call it the music of Fathy Salama." This event is free and open to the public.
