Description

Annual Korsyn Lecture: New Evidence from the Hyksos Ruler Khayan at Tell Edfu

Dr. Nadine Moeller, Assistant Professor of Egyptian Archaeology, University of Chicago, speaks at this annual event, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE-PA). During fieldwork at Tell Edfu in Upper Egypt, several hundred new sealings were discovered in connection with a late Middle Kingdom administrative structure, including eleven sealings showing the cartouche (signature) of the Hyksos ruler Khayan of the 15th Dynasty. This unique discovery opens many new questions about the nature of contact between the Hyksos people and Upper Egypt.

Admission: $8 general admission; $5 for Penn Museum members and PennCard holders; free for ARCE-PA members.
