Description

The world of the ancient Maya and other peoples of the region come alive in the Penn Museum’s Mexico and Central America Gallery. See impressive circular altars and grand stone monuments, including the massive stone stela that was instrumental in the early decoding of the Maya hieroglyphs. Experience the brilliantly colored polychrome pottery depicting the life and rituals of the Mayan priests, as well as terracotta figurines, instruments for ritual blood-letting, and hand-carved jade jewelry once worn by the wealthy elite.

This is a public tour and it is included in general Museum admission. Advance reservations are not required.
