Culture Change, Adaptation, and Image Film Series
Future Remembrance (1998)
In West Africa, people have adapted studio photography portraiture to send messages about their own status. This film looks at historical and modern studio photographers in Ghana, and the implications of their work. Dr. John Jackson, Jr., Anthropology Department, University of Pennsylvania, introduces the program and facilitates discussion. This program is presented in association with the 2011-2012 Penn Humanities Forum on Adaptations, and co-sponsored by the African Studies Center, University of Pennsylvania and Penn Cinema Studies. Free with Museum admission.
