Review Penn Museum
header_1600_goldthread.jpg

We offer internships for students on a regular basis. Interns are involved in research projects, collections management, exhibitions, Museum events and public outreach.

Penn Museum provides a range of opportunities for students to gain experience in collections management, conservation, exhibitions, museum education and arts administration. With an emphasis on applied learning, the Museum provides opportunities for interns to work with over 15 different departments and sections. From June through August each year, Museum interns participate in the Penn Museum Summer Internship Program including instructional sessions, departmental tours, and behind-the-scenes visits to collection storage and archives. Individual interns and project teams present the results of their work during weekly meetings.

Internships for Penn Students Only
The Penn Museum Summer Internship Program offers a small number of paid internship positions open only to Penn students and funded by the University of Pennsylvania's School of Arts and Sciences Summer Humanities program. Applications and more information on these summer internships are available through the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships.

Volunteer Internships Open to All Students
Volunteer internships
are also available at the Penn Museum. These unpaid, volunteer positions are open to students from Penn and other institutions. These internships require a commitment of at least 150 hours of service, although specific schedule and internship duration are based on the project activities and the Museum supervisor's schedule. Volunteer interns support all facets of Museum operations, including collections management, museum education, arts administration and development. Read more

Conservation internships
The Conservation department at the Penn Museum offers advanced conservation students the opportunity to complete their training and curricular requirements in their respective academic programs. These internships are highly selective, and only advanced conservation students are considered for placement during summer and academic year internships.
