Posted November 13, 2009 at 4:28 PM
We were truly touched literally and physically by this exhibit…..we were inspired by the majestic beauty of Iraq…Indeed the most venerable Susan had a fainting spell due to her lack of breathing because she was so in awe of all you offered us today….i had to break out the smelling salts….we thought you should know that we are now moving to Iraq and labeling ourselves the queens of Ur…..so THANK YOU SIR THANK YOU!!!!!!! <3,<3 Susan and Victoria aka the Queens of Ur
p.s. much love and feel free to visit and bring us goats and lambs to sacrifice

i am a 7th grader at a small Christian school.I did a project once on the ziggurat of ur, I like your picture of it. I did a model of the ziggurat, and from the picture you have, it looks like my model was pretty acurate.
THE CNSERVATION OF THE BULL-HEADED LYRE
Posted November 11, 2009 at 4:27 PM
I was an intern at the Museum in 1978, and saw the object’s conservator working on the bull’s head. It was such an inspiring experience, I later went on to become a conservator myself (of books and paper). I hadn’t been back in 30 years, and really enjoyed this exhibition, and the memories it brought back. Thank you very much. M. Martin

2 ways Queen P’s hair could have supported the gold adornments, I hypothesize: (1) super curly-kinky hair put into a bun under the decorations or (2) beehive hairdo -if her hair was straight. How about doing an experiment to try this out??!

This is the second time I have had my 7 year old to the museum and it is even more interesting the second time around. Of course, the mummy exhibit is her favorite. @I have always loved this museum and came here frequently as a teenager after school.
