PHILADELPHIA, October 1, 2024—As part of an extended three-year partnership with Penn Medicine, the Penn Museum’s popular Mind & Mood Recharge returns every first Wednesday evening from 5:00-8:00 pm, beginning November 6, 2024 through April 2, 2025.

Now in its second year, Mind & Mood Recharge transforms the Penn Museum into a sanctuary of self-care for visitors to reset midway through the work week with restorative mind and body practices. In centering well-being at the heart of this after-hours experience, the Penn Museum connects ancient and diverse traditions of healing represented in its collections to health and wellness today.

On opening night, Wednesday, November 6, the first 200 guests will receive a limited-edition reusable tote bag.

In listening to guest feedback, the Museum has increased the number of all-levels yoga sessions in the soaring galleries to four each evening, now with opportunities to register for classes in advance (on top of event registration).

Mind & Mood Recharge will also offer:

  • New this year: 30-minute Slow-Looking Experiences led by Penn Museum educators. Slowly and carefully examining objects on display in the Museum’s galleries can be a transformative stress-reducing process that fosters the discovery of new details and enhances mindfulness.
  • Immersive sound baths
  • Meditation sessions
  • Art-making therapy with Project Joy
  • Museum Rx Self-Guided Tour, a chance to learn about objects connected to the history of medicine and healing across 10,000 years
  • Botanical Bar serving herb-infused “mocktails,” non-alcoholic refreshments, as well as spirits.

In addition, a Wellness Marketplace featuring gifts, crafts, and services offered by local health- centric professionals and alternative practitioners will be on-site.

Admission is free for PennCard holders and Penn Museum members, as well as Penn Medicine patients and staff, who will be able to enter a code at online checkout or show identification at the Welcome Desk. For the general public, access to Mind & Mood Recharge is included with $18 general admission for after-hours access to all Museum galleries and exhibitions.

A complete line-up of dates and activities can be found here.

The popular wellness series will continue through April 2, 2025.
