Penn Museum’s Egypt (Sphinx) Gallery Is Featured in Achiever Academy’s 2nd Annual Fundraiser Music Video

"Remember The Time" a short film, pushed the boundaries of the music video medium with a star-studded, nine-minute epic set in ancient Egypt.

Fast forward for a Remember the Time update! Late last spring, Tracy & Samantha McNair of the Achiever’s Academy at Brandywine School District in Delaware contacted the Penn Museum, requesting to film part of their version of “Remember the Time—2017” in the Museum’s Egypt (Sphinx) Gallery, the highlight of an evening fundraiser for the non-profit, in-school program, geared to helping children succeed in school, and achieve in their lives.

Talented Achiever’s Academy students ages 12 to 18, working with adult actors, and amazing performers in dance, came to the Museum twice to tape for the video. There was energy, there was action, there was a whole lot of fun. Photography by Derrick Dean Photography.

The big reveal of “Remember the Time 2017” comes Saturday, October 28, at the 2nd Annual Fundraiser for Achiever’s Academy at Brandywine School District at the Springer Middle School, 2220 Shipley Road in Wilmington, Delaware. The event runs from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm (video reveal time: 6:00 pm), and tickets are $10 ($5 for children under 12 and Achiever’s Academy students).

Funds raised at the event go to a terrific cause: the opportunity for students who are part of the Achiever’s Academy to visit top universities, and discover a world of opportunity that they may not have ever considered.

Since its inception in 2005, the Achiever’s Academy has had a stunning success rate. 100% of students who have participated for at least two years have graduated and gone on to either college (97%) or the military (3%).

In the Spring of 2005, Pastor David Pope of New Life Community Development Corporation launched Achiever’s Academy in Brandywine school district in Wilmington, Delaware with the goal of expanding it into every secondary school in the Brandywine School District. Now in its 12th year, Achiever’s Academy helps transforms young people’s lives.

As Mark Holodick, Superintendent of Schools, Brandywine School District, noted, “The hundreds of students who participate in Achiever’s Academy each year learn study habits, accountability, time management, discipline, and other leadership qualities in twice-weekly meetings at their schools. Completely volunteer-driven, the program is offered at no cost to the students, the families, or the district.”
