To mark the launch of the Global Learning Lab, a new program for K–12 school groups, join educators for hands-on learning experiences that facilitate the exchange of diverse ideas and experiences.
Connect with colleagues as you uncover the unique stories behind artifacts and learn how they help us to understand each other and the communities we live in. Learn how the study of archaeology and anthropology and the Penn Museum’s collections can support classroom learning for your students, encouraging them to build global competencies such as observation, inference, critical thinking, active listening, collaborative learning, and the reflective process. Through interactive activities, educators will explore ways to integrate artifacts from diverse cultures into their curriculum, including selecting appropriate artifacts, developing inquiry-based questions, and facilitating student-led discussions.
The museum is an Act 48/continuing professional development provider for Pennsylvania and other states. Teachers will receive 10 professional development credits. A limited number of scholarships are available for educators from Title 1 Schools. Apply by May 1, 2024.

Morgan Lloyd
Morgan Lloyd is a curator, community arts administrator, educator, and scholar based in Lenapehoking (Philadelphia, PA). She is the Lead Interpreter and Docent Manager at the African American Museum in Philadelphia. Her work emphasizes a holistic, community-centered revisitation and reconnection to the nuances of Black & Brown histories—with a special focus on Colonial and Antebellum histories.
Shari Tishman
Shari Tishman is a Lecturer at Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Senior Research Associate at Harvard Project Zero, where she formerly served as Director. Her research focuses on the development and teaching of thinking, the role of close observation in learning, and learning in and through the arts.
Lindsey Bloom
Lindsey Bloom is an arts administrator, educator, and leader with over 10 years of experience in the museum field in Philadelphia. Lindsey currently manages Family Programs at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, with previous experiences and community partners at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Academy of Natural Sciences, Free Library of Philadelphia, People’s Emergency Center, and Project H.O.M.E. Specializing in process art and audience connection, Lindsey develops intergenerational experiences that tap into play, wonder, and collaboration.

Our unique program fosters a transformative understanding of cultures by bringing together young visitors and educators from diverse backgrounds. Step into our interactive learning opportunities, hosted both in the Museum’s galleries and classrooms, facilitated by trained educators.
In the Global Learning Lab, core competencies in intercultural education are developed through engaging activities that facilitate the exchange of ideas and experiences. Unlike traditional programs, Global Learning Lab offers interactive experiences, led by trained global educators, who encourage students to build global competencies they need such as observation, inference, critical thinking, active listening, collaborative learning, and reflective process.
