In honor of International Archaeology Day, join the Penn Museum’s Center for the Analysis of Archaeological Materials (CAAM) Lab for an exploration of current archaeological projects taking place at The Woodlands. Learn how scientists and archaeologists from the CAAM Lab are currently researching the historic location of William Hamilton’s greenhouse, from recovering plant remains to utilizing ground penetrating radar. Peer through the microscope to analyze flower pots and see how electrical resistance surveys are used to detect and map what's beneath the soil.

Stop by anytime between 10 am and 12 pm to learn about the ongoing archaeological discoveries at The Woodlands. At 11 am, researchers will demonstrate how cores of sediments are retrieved from the ground to study buried soils.

The Woodlands is located at 4000 Woodland Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19104. In the event of rain, we will gather under our Fall Event Tent near the Stable.
