The collision of dance, material culture and visual art has been the genesis of cultural exchange and new performance for millennia . This one-day festival invites pairs of performers/devisers and dramaturgs to come together to consider how the culturally specific histories of objects in the Penn Museum collection can inform a new performance works. What are the uses and technologies of the object? What does it inspire the body to do? The six pairs of performer/dramaturg collaborators have 6 hours to develop a 5-10 minute performance work based on their relationship to the object. Join these makers for in an evening showcase exploring the relationship between material culture and performance. Immediately following the performances there will be a post-show discussion with Anita Holland, Daniel Park and Amy Smith.
