Description | Dance baton with woodpecker ornamentation. The baton is made from a long, rounded piece of wood that tapers toward the lower end. A woodpecker figure is attached at roughly one third from the top of the baton. The woodpecker is carved with formline designs and painted black, white, and red. A ring of white, eagle feather down is attached just below the woodpecker figure. The area between the figure and the middle of the staff is painted red while the upper third and lower half are painted black. |
