Description

Sommerville: Red Jasper. Intaglio. A Fawn feeding from a tree. Intaglios and Their Imprints, Case BBB.

Vermeule: Red Jasper. Intaglio. (Unmounted) A dog standing to left, looking up at a bird hanging from the trees which curves over the composition from the right. Graeco-Roman, "return from the chase" scenes were very popular in Roman art of the IInd and IIIrd A.D. Graeco-Roman.
