Description | Circular shield of bison raw-hide. Flat, with center deeply concave. Rear part painted yellow with red circle around elevated center. Cover of buckskin with a draw-thong of same. 2/3 of edge covered with orange flannel cloth. Braid of sweetgrass, and red and blue small ring attached. Periphery hung at bottom with long conical bone and large glass beads of various colors, tipped with eagle claws; at top with pendants of orange porcupine quill, metal banglee and blue horsehair. Bone whistle and deer-tail on strip of otter skin, rabbit tails and quill-work flat pendant attached; small ceremonial shield of buckskin netting in center. |
