Description | Praying girl. Standing, frontal pose, fully dressed in Doric peplos reaching down to the ground (only the toes are visible). Both forearms are extended forward at right angles to the body. The fingers of the right hand are extended, palm upward; those of the left hand are partly closed. Wavy hair falling to the level of the nape of the neck, bound above by a ribbon (?) tied in front. Eyes open, once inlaid. Original found at Herculaneum. |
