Description

Rim sherd from a deep pot (深鉢). Rim edge curves, rising to a projection with a curl at the top and a hole to the side. Incised line patterns cover the exterior surface with a single vertical applied line. Interior primarily orange and exterior primarily blackened. The elaborate rim projections and surface decoration are reminiscent of the fanciful vessels of the Middle Jomon Period.
