Description | One vertical loop handle shoulder to neck, black bottle; squatting figure, with head band in relief and pouch in low relief on body Face-neck vessel. Narrow-necked jug with an effigy-anthropomorphic body, effigy-anthropomorphic neck, inward sloping rim, 1 cord (round cross-section) handle extending from the neck to the body, and a flat base. The vessel is shaped like a seated figure with a face on the neck including eyes, nose, ears, and mouth. The figure has a detailed headband on the head while the body has crossed arms and a pouch in relief. There are two small feet sticking out at the edge of the base. There appears to be a burnished finish on the exterior. The vessel was likely fired in a reducing atmosphere as the surface is black and the interior is gray in color. The catalogue number is written on the bottom of the base and black ink on the bottom of the base reads: "2767." |
