Description | Huipil of red and white warp striped cotton. Warp faced weave, three breadths, multicolored. Mostly red brocade covering white stripes. 29cm on side breadths and 38cm on center breadth. 40 cm zigzag shoulder bands and 3.5 cm rectangle motif chest and back bands, all single face brocade. 5cm green, yellow and purple buttonhole stitch around armholes neck and front opening with a yellow cord tie at neck. As per Sigrid Meier, "Warp: 72 epi, single, Z twist, red and white cotton. Two singles, Z twist, yellow cotton. Two singles, two ply, Z twist, orange cotton. Weft: 24 ppi, single, Z twist, white cotton. Warp faced plain weave. Supplementary weft is single faced. Three panels, three selvedges each. Woven on a backstrap loom." |
