Description | Neck ornament possibly in the form of a bird or a worm for use by a shaman. "Worm on salmon-berry" (LSDA). Red wool base with brown borders. One end of the ornament has a pointed head and the opposite has a pointed tail with an ornamented disc between the two. The segment from head to tail is beaded with blue, white, and metal beads and a shell button at each end. The lower edge is cut with three large scallops. Each of the scallops is lined with shell buttons. The central disc has shell buttons and beads in a floral design. White beads line the edges of the entire ornament. A twisted, cloth cord is attached at the upper edge to affix it to the wearer's neck. |
