Description

Samurai cuirass with attached thigh guards. Armor for upper body. Metal or lacquer plates over chest area with lacquered strips attached by cording. Horizontal ridges of black lacquer with blue lace backed by leather. Metal breast and shoulder plate painted over with brown. Honeycomb pattern with blue lacing around neck. Cuirass fastened at side with string, shoulder plate fastened at front with blue flowered piping and knotted at front. Metal handle on back. Neck padding in poor condition. Marked on chest ID#14.
