Description | Made in imitation of Protocorinthian ware. Mended and plastered, pieces missing. Low base, nearly a ring base, but barely distinct from body. Body nearly spherical, elongated near base. SHort neck with ridge at base. Flaring rim stepped 4 times on exterior. 2 horizontal loop handles at central body. Brown/black painted dec, with added white and purple. Bands of all 3 colors near base and just under handles. Just above handles, wide brown band with bands of white and purple above and below. Compass drawn incised scale pattern with white dots on brown band. On shoulder, reserved band with groups of short brown verticla strokes. On neck, brown and purple bands with applied white dots. Rim, brown, Handles, brown. Fine clay medium fabric. Fired creamy buff throughout. |
