Description

Oval mask, gently convex, with bulbous, protruding nose, pierced eyes, and V-shaped pierced mouth. Holes at center top (with twisted fiber tied through), and all around edge (for attachment of fiber tassel beard and peel-wound ring). Nose overmolded with clay, and inlaid with eleven cowrie shells. Pig's tusk nose ornament. Suspended from nose is a chain of braided fiber links, at the end of which is a tuft of white feathers and a tuft of (couscous?) fur. Mostly red (pigment mixed with mud?), with traces of black and white.
