Description | Said to have belonged to Minnie Steven's father. Said to have been carried into potlatch house to say the Ravens were glad to come. End is carved to represent bear. Figures of beaver lodges (?), jumping salmon, frogs, sun (?) face, Alders (?). Identified by Colonel Abercrombie as the staff of authority carried by the peacemaker or "Policeman." Saw similar one used in this way at Alaganik in 1884. |
