Description

Finely polished adze fragment. Cutting edges is chipped. Handle end is broken off. Beveled sides. Black stone. A group of nine polished adzes, namely 2289, 2290, 13144, 13145, 13146, 13147, 13152, 13153, 13154 and 13155, are typical of the type of polished adzes which appear throughout Japan from the Early Jomon Period onward.
