Description

Sommerville: Onyx. A Greek Philosopher (fragment). (Through Depoletti, from a Tuscan collection). Greek and Roman Cameos, Case QQ.

Vermeule: Onyx. Cameo. (Unmounted) Carved so as to suggest a beak across the neck. Head of a Greek philosopher, partially bald and with a long beard, to right. 18th century, acquired through Depoletti from a Tuscan collection.
