Description

Kalathos of simple conical shape wiht spreading rim; no handles. Fine pink (7.5 YR 7/4) clay, covered with black paint, with decoration in added white paint. Dark painted on interior and exterior. Added white: traces only. Restored from fragments; some sherds missing; surface eroded. Comments: MM III-LM IA. The best discussion of kalathoi is Coldstream and Huxley, eds. 1973: 86, no. 72, and no. D 27, with references (Kythera). Compare also Levi 1976: pls. 184c and 185d and f (Phaistos).
