Description

Woodblock print. Landscape on a fan based on a painting by Liu Songnian 劉松年 (ca. 1150-after 1225). Two little figures sitting on a rock in the foreground; pine trees and bridge over mountain torrent at right foreground; valley wreathed in white mist. Three lines of inscription at upper left. Blue and grey. Illustration from "Studio of the Mustard Seed Garden" a manual for artists, first printed in 1679. Prints 35-5-1 to 35-5-95 are from an edition printed before 1870.
