Description | Bamboo pointed arrow (type kanat or owet kanat) (owet = bamboo). Pitpit shaft, black palm foreshaft. Concave side of bamboo point decorated. Gnetum seizings coated with resin and charcoal. Decorative fiber rings on foreshaft. Used for larger animals, such as wild pigs. See Kirsch dissertation for symbolism. Made by Kobarara Yangkap, Namat clan, Kombut village, Irian Jaya, living in Dome refugee camp. Purchased form maker 3/88. |
