Description

Ivory fragment with two warriors; heads are right; cf. /399\ and /400\.

Muscarella Publication: "Fragment from a chariot scene depicting a charioteer, background, and an archer, foreground, right The warriors have thick lips, prominent noses, S-shaped ears; hair and beard rendered in thick, squarish chunks; they seem to wear "feather" helmets without earflaps (cf. nos. 59, 61). Garment are V-necked, with heavy, chunky, bandoliers and thick belts. Neither the end of the arrow shaft nor the bow string is depicted. The reverse is smooth."
