Description

Bell cup; one handle. Fine, pink (7.5 YR 8/4) clay with decoration in black paint. Wiped with water. Band on rim and upper part of handle with a few drips, from dipping. Restored from fragments; some sherds missing. Comments: MM III-LM IA. Middle Minoan Dark-on-light Style. For the shape see Wahlberg 1983: Type 223. Compare Hawes et al. 1908: pl. 2, no. 16, with no paint (Gournia). For this type of painting in eastern Crete in LM I see Sackett and Popham 1970: 222, fig. 13, no. 8, and pl. 614 (Palaikastro).
